About Kenneth Cobonpue, Voyage collection:
Whenever we fall asleep at night, we journey to a world of dreams. What better way to travel than in a bed reminiscent of papyrus and reed boats? The Voyage is made of buri, abaca and steel or abaca, nylon twine and steel.

WALTER KNOLL AT IMM COLOGNE 2011

21 Feb 2011

The Walter Knoll stand stood out from the crowd with its outside walls covered in amorphous colour formations – “random signs”. The graphic concept and realisation were the work of “22quadrat”, an upcoming design agency from Osnabrück, Germany

Inside, Walter Knoll is exhibiting 9 new products and extensions to the range at imm cologne 2011, including Jaan Living, a new range of upholstered furniture: cosmopolitan elegance for international lifestyle. And Lox: the appealing bucket seat both for at home and at the office. As well as the new sofa Blue Two: prestigious and flexible, elegant and at the same time intimate. And the new armchair in the Living Landscape 750 range: the grand seigneur for modern club culture. With Foster 502: the new masterpiece by the renowned architect. And there are also additions to the Cuoio range, tables in solid wood and new occasional tables.

Born in Turin in 1905, he received his degree in architecture in 1931 and his career was highly diversified, covering architecture, design, interior decorating and town planning.

Among these, he designed a wide variety of furniture of all types: he even invented new kinds of furniture. But he also created planes and cars.

In addition to this fervid designing, he loved photography, stunt flying and car racing and was an expert in all these fields. He even got some ideas and technology from racing which turned him in good stead in his designing.

His production made him one of the symbols of the entire 1950s; one of his major built works is the Turin University School of Architecture, where he held the chair of Architectural Composition and Decorating from 1952 to 1970.

He died in Turin in 1973.

Dancing Squares is the solo show of Japanese Designer Nendo at the Art Stage at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.

'dancing squares' lamp

'We assembled squares to create a sense of motion in this series of objects. Lamps roll about, but are stable thanks to their planes, casting light in different directions.’  – Nendo

'Dancing Squares' shelf

One part of the bookshelf is frozen in its cascade of tumbling planes, creating variety in the way books can be stacked.– Nendo

'Dancing Squares' stool

The stool's twist endows it with visual play.'
– Nendo

'Dancing Squares' table

The table leans as though it seems to be falling, but maintains its function as a table. Objects placed on it seem to sink into its folds and sways. The different 'movements' make balance and unbalance overlap, as though we are watching the planes themselves dance.'
– Nendo
